Listening to a Blüthner Model 1.

A client’s concert grand, careful fine tuning, and the importance of stabilization.

The Blüthner concert grand from Steven’s original visit

An instrument worth listening to

Working on a client’s Blüthner Concert Grand Model 1 was a pleasure. It is the kind of instrument that rewards close listening and careful work.

Stabilization before the final result

This visit called for stabilization and fine tuning. Getting the notes into place matters, but so does helping the string tension and tuning pins settle so the result holds as the instrument responds.

Attention to this particular piano

Each piano tunes a little differently. I approach the instrument in front of me by ear, checking its balance and refining the result rather than treating the model name as a substitute for listening.
