A believer in the healing power of music, a first-year student at the University of Central Florida medical school has scored a baby grand piano to grace the lobby of Nemours Children's Hospital.
The piano was admitted to the children's hospital last month, where it received a tune up donated by Malicki Piano Service
(www.Orlandopianotuning.com) and now is in fine spirits.
Med student Michael Metzner, who also is an accomplished pianist, wanted to study the physiological effects of music on chronically ill children. The medical school's next-door neighbor, Nemours, was the perfect laboratory. Both facilities are located in Lake Nona Medical City.
Only one problem: The new hospital didn't have any musical instruments, just the surgical kind, and no budget to buy any.
Steven,
Thanks for your generous offer to donate a tuning for our recently acquired grand piano.
We contacted many piano companies in Central Florida – yours was the first company to offer donation to tune and repair piano in our main lobby. It sounds and plays great!
Happy Holidays.
Thanks again,
Michael
